Car accidents can be a very real part of driving in Montana. Though often vehicle collisions are minor and the people involved are able to walk away without serious injuries, in other situations individuals can suffer significant personal harm and even death at the hands of a negligent driver. A recent series of events demonstrates just how dangerous the roads can be when a reckless driver gets behind the wheel of a car.
A 24-year-old woman was arrested after she caused three separate vehicle accidents in Billings over a 90 minute period of time. A man reported that the driver had smashed into his parked vehicle, and after learning of that incident authorities connected it to two prior vehicle collisions in the city. The extent of the damages and injuries suffered by her victims is unknown, but she was seen operating her vehicle without one of its wheels prior to her arrest.
In addition to the path of destruction that she caused with her car, the driver also allegedly left her young child with a stranger after stopping her vehicle on Montana Avenue. When she was arrested, she was charged with a variety of crimes, including DUI and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
When a victim incurs losses as a result of a car accident, that individual can seek compensation from the party or parties who caused them. Lawsuits based on personal injuries from car accidents can be based on the negligent or reckless conduct of other drivers. As demonstrated in this case, the dangerous and erratic conduct of some irresponsible drivers can lead to serious car accidents and potentially significant losses.
